UCR is leading innovation in the Inland Empire and making worldwide impacts. UCR’s Opportunities to Advance Sustainability, Innovation, and Social Inclusion, or SoCal OASISTM has secured more than $68M in federal and state funding to develop the SoCal OASISTM Park — an innovation and workforce development hub. The first phase of the project, which officially broke ground on June 23, 2025, will be located in close proximity to the main campus and the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

A UC Riverside discovery makes it possible to destroy perchlorate pollution after it has been captured on ion-exchange resin beads, which could reduce the hazardous waste generated during drinking water treatment and allow for the beads to be reused.
